My best friend and I spent a couple of days on the island of Alderney. It's a truly beautiful place; nestled off the coast of France, yet exposed to the English channel. It is full of wildlife and history. Puffin's arrive on Burhou (a tiny islet 2 miles northwest of Alderney) in late March and leave in early August, coming to rear their young.
After a long coastal walk we had lunch at the iconic Braye Beach Hotel, overlook the white sands, the sun warming me and the crisp wind bringing with it zest and energy. It was simplicity itself; Joy
I simply soaked it all up and felt a painting was on the way.
When returning back to the studio I tuned back into that feeling, that experience and simply allowed it to flow. I encapsulated the feeling and energy of Joy.
This work is thick in layers, highly textured and vivid in colours. It will brighten up any space and is a one of a kind piece of art work.
